Tenth Face

I was tired and I wanted to go to bed but I took a pencil, my Ipad and chose an image and drew this face. I know it is not well made. I have made the same mistakes : place of each part, line overbold, etc.

Seventh face

Mistakes: Shape, nose , mouth.

New attempt

Lonely.

At the bottom

I chose a photo and I tried to draw in pastel. The photo shows different colours of green through leaves. In the middle there is a wall o maybe a amount  of rocks in a irregular line. Two trees in the right and another in the left complete the lanscape. At the top the sky isn't bright.
The main feature of this paintings is the emptyness and it is absolutely bored. The sense of painting is to be full of soul or sometihing new, as a stethic or some special sense such as beauty, spirituality, etc.

What was the problem? If I drew other lanscape better than this. I have realized that  I don' t have technique to choose in each moment. I think it is no question to take a stick and spread it a long the paper. Practice is essential but not either practice.  A long last years I draw for pleasure trying to improve. After analysing my way to draw I make the same mistakes. I draw without orientation. I take the advice of many drawers which is draw , draw , draw and it will pull out easily. Is it true? I have doubts about it. I think the way in the case of pastel is to do a painting at the same time as an artist. It was the case of my painting  of pears.
I am going to copy a landscape which I have watched in YouTube.

Fifth face

I feel more comfortable when I use pencil.  If I use pen the lines are seen better and the mistakes pull out.

Mistakes: The nose is badly drawn. The eyes are much bigger than they have to be. It is poor in shadow and highlight. Is the face´s shape well made? Is each part in the right place?

The king.

I have taken a new risk. Making the texture with pastel is very hard, however, I wanted to face a new situation. In this case the goal is to understand  how pastel stick works on it. I need to experiment and analyze how do it paint.
Mistakes:
- Place. It has to place a little up.
. Thumbnail: it was done but the neck is too thickset. The body is rare , strange because of propotion.
- Volume. It doesn't exist.
- The head is not end up yet.
- Background: It is simple without grace and sense. It is only a spreading yellow.

Nostalgic beauty

Forth face

I don't know if it is the way. I am too spontaneus. I feel I don't have method. I don't mesure the distance between each element.  I take a pen and draw. I start with one eye and I continue with the ose and finally draw the mouth. I fixed this challenge to motivate to myself. I want to draw faxes during thirty days and I will check if I improve in some aspect.
Sometimes I notice I pick up the real sight of the eyes and this is most dificult hability. I know I am going to be a good portrait drawer. The key is keeping on it.
Mistakes: rigid drawing, wrong mesures, small paper, lack of shadow and highlight, worse lines for example in the nose. The cranium is too small.

Try again . Don't be afraid.

In the afternoon I began to paint a wood and It was a horrible situation. However, at night it changed. I forgot the last attempt and tryed to repeat the same landscape and this was the outcome.

First face

I am trying to upload a portrait every day. It is my next challenge. The goal is improve my knowing about faces. Practice and practice is the unique way to acquire the abilitity to draw a face fluently. I think this challenge could me help to have a duty .

Today

A piece of advice given from Lisa Ober

UART: What advice would you give someone who is just starting with pastels?
Lisa: Never give up on pastel.  It is worth the reward.  It is worth the few little challenges that it poses, like the susceptibility, the smearing.  It is worth figuring out a work around for that because the luminosity you get with pastels is spectacular.  The amount of layers and textures you can create in pastel is rewarding.  If you don’t give up on pastel you will end up loving it.
Whole interview.
